The main alloying element of 5052 is magnesium. It is mainly used to manufacture aircraft fuel tanks, oil pipes, sheet metal parts of transportation vehicles and ships, instruments, street lamp brackets and rivets, hardware products, electrical housings, etc.
Characteristics
It is an Al-Mg series rust-proof aluminum. Compared with 3A21, 5A02 has higher strength, especially higher fatigue strength; similar to 3A21, it has high plasticity and corrosion resistance; it cannot be strengthened by heat treatment, and has good weldability with contact welding and hydrogen atomic welding. There is a tendency of crystallization cracks during argon arc welding; the alloy has good machinability in cold hardening and semi-cold hardening states, poor machinability in annealing state, and can be polished.
